  We had an incredible day floating the McKenzie River with Dan Anthon of Just Add Water Guide Service. From start to finish, Dan had us on fish all day and made the experience both productive and enjoyable. His knowledge of the river, local conditions, and fish behavior was outstanding, and he shared plenty of helpful tips and techniques that will make us better anglers long after the trip. Dan’s boat and equipment were top-notch, and everything was organized, clean, and professional. Beyond that, he was personable, easy to talk to, and clearly passionate about what he does. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to fly fishing, I highly recommend booking a trip with Dan. We’ll definitely be back!

  Dan helped make our trip. He not only was knowledgeable about the river but great (and patient) while helping correct my technique (I had gone less than a dozen times before). I also loved his insight into the history of the Deschutes and his knowledge of all the surrounding wildlife. But even more than that he was just a good and enjoyable person to be on the river with. I would 100% come back and do another trip with Dan.

  Dan Anthon is exactly the guide you want for your first time on the water. The first time I reached out was on short notice, and he was extremely helpful squeezing us in before a wedding. From the moment we met up, he walked us through the fundamentals on land, solid education, no rush, just clear, patient instruction that actually made sense before we ever got in our waders. In the water, he eased us into everything step by step, turning what could've been an overwhelming experience into something totally accomplishable for a group of beginners. We caught fish. We learned a ton. And honestly, the experience was so much fun and the beauty of it all is mesmerizing. Can't wait to book another excursion when I'm back in Central Oregon. If you're looking to get into fly fishing, Dan's your guy.

  I had the pleasure of fishing the Deschutes with Dan during the salmonfly hatch. From the moment I began communicating with he and his wife they were excellent. I loved that Just Add Water is basically a 1 man (and 1 woman) run business and how they run their business. Dan has the experience and knowledge to get you on the fish. He's fantastic with instruction, explains things in a way that makes sense, and is patient with new methods and teachings. If you're reading this, stop researching big shop fly guides and book Dan now. Oh, and we were on the water before most of the other guides too, which is a huge bonus in my book.
