Offshore / Deep Sea in New Hampshire

New Hampshire packs a lot of fishing into a small map: White Mountain trout streams at one end, Atlantic salt at the other, and the big glacial lakes in between. The Lakes Region is the freshwater heart of it: Lake Winnipesaukee, Squam Lake, and Lake Winnisquam, where guides troll for landlocked salmon and lake trout and work the rocky shorelines for smallmouth and largemouth bass. Head north into the White Mountains and North Country and the water gets colder and wilder: rivers and small lakes holding brook trout, rainbows, and browns.

The salt is only ever a short drive away. Around Portsmouth, Rye, and Hampton, the Seacoast opens onto Great Bay and the Atlantic, and the charter fleet follows the fish: striped bass and bluefish pushing through the inshore water, cod and haddock on the offshore grounds, and bluefin tuna for the boats willing to run for them. Strong currents and varied bottom keep this stretch of coast productive, a compact shoreline that fishes far bigger than it looks.
