  • Montana Fishing License

    All individuals aged 12 and older must possess a valid Montana fishing license to fish in the state's waters. Both residents and non-residents must also hold a Conservation License, which is the prerequisite for buying a fishing license. Licenses can be purchased online or from licensed vendors.

  • Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention Pass

    Montana requires an Angler AIS Prevention Pass from every angler 12 and older, it's bundled with your fishing license, so buying the license covers you. Separately, nonresident watercraft launched in the state need a Vessel AIS Prevention Pass, and all boats must stop at watercraft inspection stations.   • Stream Access Law

    Montana's Stream Access Law ensures public access to rivers and streams between the ordinary high-water marks, even where streams flow through private land.
